Yes I've added my blog @digiSal and I can understand your point but you can't use jaiku's search function to search through jaikuant's blogs or can you? Say for instance I wanted to find all all jaikuants that were interested in "social media marketing" now I wouldn't want to have to walk through reading everyone's blog to find out if they have such an interest. Much simpler to just enter a search phrase into a search box and let jaiku search through jaikuant's profiles and fetch these out for me. Then yes I could select those of interest and read the blogs but doing this the other way round seems to me to be impractical. I think this falls into the "user friendliness" category of functionality. Now this isn't rocket science, or is it :-O I'm with @Serg on this, "A piece of cake for Google XD"

Well I'm only new to Jaiku @digiSal and feeling my way around still so I'm doing a lot of lurking here. So far it seems like a quiet place :)

Yes @Shinerweb you are right of course you add people you already know but the whole idea of these social networks is to then broaden your network and to also "socialize" if you will, with those that you don't as yet know, and I don't here mean every Tom, Dick or Harriet but with those having similar interests, occupation and as @davidnilsson suggested music and movies etc and having a descriptor field on profiles to store that qualitative information would enable such qualitative searches to be done.

Yes time is the problem!
You must know one of my friends/followers and at a guess I would say it is @shinerweb

I just separately posted about this but agree that there has to be a better way to find people of similar interests. I think one simple idea would be to add a description field on profiles so that people can describe who they are, what they do, what their interests are (e.g. marketing, blogging, shopping, fashion, politics) and make this a searchable field. From what I can see the current search only searches screen names and these names don't tell us a lot. Hence the current search is very restrictive in helping to find people of with similar interests but could easily made more useful.
